Out of the Ordinary
Sunday 23rd September 2018
Day Four, our final day, will start from Glasgow Central with the two 73/1s for a short trip down to Paisley Canal. From Paisley, a Class 47 will take us back to Polmadie Down Holding Sidings, and the 73/1s will then again lead us back into Glasgow Central from where they will take a well earned break.
The Class 47 will then lead the train via the G&SW route through Kilmarnock and Gretna to Carlisle where we will have a locomotive change. 2 x Class 86/6 locomotives (kindly provided by Freightliner) will haul the train from Carlisle to Crewe via the West Coast Main Line.
At Crewe, a further locomotive change will see the 86s give way to two Class 50 locomotives (kindly provided by the Class 50 Alliance), and these fine locomotives will take us forward via Shrewsbury, Telford, Wolverhampton, Bescot, Coventry, Banbury, High Wycombe, Neasden Curve and into Hanwell Goods Loop.
The final part of our journey will be the Class 73/1s hauling us for the short journey from Hanwell Loop into London Paddington where our adventure ends.
