Out of the Ordinary
Friday 21st September 2018
Day Two will start from London Euston around 0715, departing with a pair of Class 20s and heading down the West Coast Main Line to Bletchley, then across the Marston Vale route to Bedford and then into Wellingborough Up Yard. A quick reversal here will see us hauled back up the Midland Main Line to West Hampstead by a Class 66 where we again reverse to allow the Class 20s to lead. We'll continue via Dudding Hill and Kew, heading onto the Southern Region taking a circuitous route via Dartford, Strood and Maidstone West to Tonbridge West Yard.
Here, we will replace the Class 66 with a pair of Class 73/1 locomotives which will take us out of the yard and we've requested to reverse in the former Royal Mail Terminal before the Class 20s lead again to take us back through south London to Kensington Olympia and then Acton Lane Reception.
We have planned a lengthy stop here to allow watering of the coaching stock before the Class 73/1s take us back through Kensington Olympia and into the former International platforms at London Waterloo. There will be an option to alight and rejoin at Kensington Olympia should you wish a break from the train.
